Description

Our commemoration of the sesquicentennial of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution continues with a major speaker event and public forum at the historic Strafford Town House. We are honored to present our featured speaker, Dr. Shirley Jefferson, Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Diversity and Associate Professor of Law at Vermont Law School in South Royalton.

In her speech, Dr. Jefferson will take the pulse of equality in the United States by examining one of the most critical issues of our time—the struggle to ensure and protect the full realization of equal rights for all persons in the United States.

Dr. Jefferson’s speech will be followed by a discussion panel consisting of elected officials and representatives of organizations that are active in the fields of civil rights and social justice — engaging the audience in a far-ranging discussion about the current state of our Constitution’s promise of equal rights and protections for all.
